BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer team placed two student-athletes on the Skyline Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams, announced by the league on Monday.
Camary Jonas (Kingston City, Jamaica/Martin Luther King Jr.) earned First Team recognition and was named Skyline Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year, while
Colin Berg (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles Academy) landed a spot on the Second Team.
Berg and Jonas are the first Gryphons to earn Skyline All-Conference accolades, while Jonas is the program's first player to earn Rookie of the Year honors.
It was no surprise to see Jonas on an all-conference team, as the rookie was one of the Skyline's top offensive threats. Jonas set team-records for points (30) and goals (13) this season, including a pair of hat-tricks and three game-winning scores. Jonas guided Sarah Lawrence to its first-ever league wins, scoring go-ahead goals in victories over St. Joseph's Brooklyn and Yeshiva.
Berg earns his first Skyline All-Conference citation following a strong junior campaign, finishing second on the team in points (16) and goals (7). Earlier in the season, he became the first Gryphon to garner Player of the Week honors, following a team-record four-goal performance in a victory over Pratt. In his stellar effort against the Cannoneers, he posted the fourth-fastest hat-trick in NCAA Division III history, scoring three goals in a span of 2:05.
In 2017, Sarah Lawrence set a team record for wins in a single-season and has now improved upon its win total in each of the last three seasons. The Gryphons finished the year with 91 points on 36 goals and 21 assists, all new team records. Winless in their first 37 Skyline conference games, the Gryphons finished the year with back-to-back victories against league opponents.
