De Bourbon Named HVMAC Rookie of the Week

NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis player Shotaro de Bourbon (Paris, France, International School of Paris) has been named Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference Tennis Rookie of the Week for the period ending April 28, as announced by the league on Tuesday. In addition, junior Phil London (New York, N.Y., Horace Mann) was named to the HVMAC weekly Honor Roll.

De Bourbon secured a pair of love victories during Sarah Lawrence's conference win over St. Joseph's College Brooklyn. The rookie senior was victorious at No. 3 singles, 10-0, and at No. 2 doubles, 8-0. On the season, de Bourbon went 4-3 when playing in the No. 3 singles spot and also racked up four wins at No. 2 doubles with partner Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i, Parker School).

London earned his third Honor Roll selection of the season after posting convincing 10-1 and 8-1 triumphs at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the Gryphons in their league win over St. Joseph's.

With the team's regular season in the books, Sarah Lawrence (5-7) prepares for the 2013 HVMAC Tennis Championships, scheduled for Saturday, May 4, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
