Associate AD Krishna Dass Steps Down

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College Associate Director of Athletics Krishna Dass has announced that she will be stepping down from her position, effective Friday, April 12. Dass was also Head Coach of the Gryphons' women's volleyball team and the previous Head Coach of the men's volleyball program.

As Associate Director, Dass served as the department's Compliance Director, Senior Woman Administrator, and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Coordinator.

“It has truly been a pleasure working with everyone at Sarah Lawrence,” reflected Dass. “I have grown personally and professionally, and I will miss being part of our student-athletes' lives.”

“She will be missed,” commented Director of Athletics and Physical Education Kristin Maile. “In a short period of time, she has raised the level of excellence of SLC's athletic programs.”

After women's volleyball went 2-19 in 2011, Dass turned the program around to go 19-13 in 2012, the winningest season of any Sarah Lawrence program. Her Gryphons went 5-1 in conference play and won the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Championship tournament. For her efforts, Dass was named HVWAC Volleyball Coach of the Year.

On the men's side, Dass was critical in elevating the team from club status, directing the team in its first year as a varsity program in 2012.

Off the court, Dass was instrumental in guiding the athletic department through its transition to NCAA Division III. She was charged managing countless aspects of the Gryphons' exploratory year in 2011-12 and into its first year of membership in 2012-13.

Maile continued, “I have a lot of respect for Krishna and I appreciate her hard work and dedication during her time here. We wish her all the best in her new ventures.”
