NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College sophomore
Jane Lowe (Doylestown, Pa., Central Bucks South) has been named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Tennis Player of the Week, and sophomore
Alyssa Sprague (Mexico, N.Y., Mexico) has been named HVWAC Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the period ending September 9, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
In the team's first match of the season against College of New Rochelle, Lowe notched a pair of team points with her victories at singles and doubles. She teamed with partner
Katie Voss (San Rafael, Calif., West Salem (Ore.)) to earn an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, completing the Sarah Lawrence sweep of the pairs matches.
Later, Lowe tacked on a 10-2 victory in the No. 4 singles match to help the Gryphons earn an 8-1 win against their conference foe. After finishing last season in the Gryphons' No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles spots, Lowe easily handled the step to the higher slots.
On the cross country trail, Sprague ran a gutsy race to keep up with veteran teammate
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y., Mexico) stride for stride over a weather beaten course at the Purchase Invitational. Emery and Sprague finished within two seconds of each other, with Sprague stopping the clock at 25:53 in torrential conditions for the 5K race.

Sarah Lawrence first-year tennis player
Nora Landes (Los Angeles, Calif., Cleveland/Humanities Magnet) and sophomore cross country runner Emery were recognized by the HVWAC as Honor Roll student-athletes for the week.
In her first collegiate match, Landes won a pair of conference matches for the Gryphons, yielding only one game to her New Rochelle opponent. She took the No. 1 doubles match with partner
Kayla Pincus (Shaker Heights, Ohio, Shaker Heights), 8-1, and blanked her rival, 10-0, in the No. 2 singles match.
Emery finished first among Sarah Lawrence runners in Saturday's Purchase Invitational. She clocked in at 25:52 on the rain-laden 5 km course.
